Useful information before your arrival

About visa

You don’t need to do anything before your arrival in Indonesia.
But when you land in the country you have to apply for a "Visa on Arrival" (35 USD) that allows you to stay for a maximum of 30 days.
If you want to stay 30 more days, you have to apply for an extension (again 35 USD and at least one week before your VoA expires). The extension can be made in Mataram, the capital of Lombok, it needs to be done within the week preceding the end of the 30 days. They will get you to come a second time after few days to take your prints and complete the process.
You need once there to wear long pants or you won’t be accepted inside.

About Money

The Indonesian currency is very low.
1 USD is around 15000 IDR.
Be careful to count the money when you pay and when they give you the change because it’s easy to make mistakes!

About Gili Meno

ATM

There are a couple of ATM but if you need to exchange currency you may want to do it on the mainland because here they could charge you more.

Shops

Gili Meno is a very small island. There are small shops and supermarkets with basic stuff (that is usually a little bit more expensive than normal) but if you need something in particular you may want to bring it with you from the mainland.

Electricity

As in many South East Asian countries, black out can happen for few minutes or few hours, especially in the night time.
We can’t do anything about it.

Just be patient, light some candles or go out and enjoy the sea and the stars.
